Adhesives for Attaching Nesco Products to Stucco |
We recommend a urethane-based adhesive that maintains its flexibility for the correct installation of our products. For shutters: a continuous bead of adhesive/sealant should be applied around the backing of the piece and cross hatched every 6î ñ8î inches in between. All other Nesco items should have adhesive/sealant applied inside or on back of item where it will be attached to other materials. These adhesives should also be used in combination with mechanical fasteners. Fasteners should be coarse thread deck or coated drywall screws of sufficient length to penetrate the stucco and the backing by at least 1î inch. They should be installed at an upward angle of about 15 degrees and covered over with adhesive to seal the hole in the stucco to prevent moisture penetration. If you choose: screw holes and joints can be filled with bondo, sanded (if smooth finish) and sealed. Do not apply bondo over any painted surface as it will not stick and will cause blistering and paint failure. Un-sanded bondo will also cause paint blistering. |
